Modern root canal therapy is performed under effective local anesthesia, so the procedure itself is comfortable. It actually relieves the pain caused by the infected pulp, and mild soreness afterward usually settles within a few days.
Many root canals are completed in one or two visits, depending on the tooth and the level of infection. Molars and complex cases may require additional appointments to ensure the canals are fully disinfected and sealed.
A treated tooth often becomes more brittle, so a crown is frequently recommended to protect it, especially for molars. When the tooth is significantly weakened, we place a biocompatible fiber post inside the canal to reinforce it and support the crown.
Yes. Through retreatment we remove the old root filling, thoroughly disinfect the canals and reseal them, giving a previously failed root canal a renewed chance of success and avoiding extraction whenever possible.
An apicoectomy is a precise micro-surgery that removes the infected tip of the root while preserving the surrounding bone. It is recommended when infection persists at the root end despite a conventional root canal or retreatment.
We assess each tooth with panoramic X-rays and, for complex cases or surgical planning, high-precision 3D CBCT imaging. For early-stage pulp exposure, direct pulp capping places a protective material over the pulp to stimulate natural healing and avoid a full root canal.
